Kelsey

I found this poem Kelsey wrote on my computer. She had to do it for school, and I am not sure why it touched me so much. The title is Where I Am From, and I think it really does sum that up.

Where I’m from
By: Kelsey Pearson

I am from running shoes,
From Diet Coke and Dominoes: Mexican Train.
I am from the sparkling pool in my backyard,
(bringing relief to my summer skin).
I am from the giant oak tree,
The leaves above my head protect me as if they are family.
I am from the piƱatas and vertically challenged,
I am from Eric and Carrie and the Pearsons.
I am from the loud debaters and the obnoxious.

From “I brought you into this world, I can take you out just as fast,”
and “I love you.”
I’m from families can be together forever through Jesus Christ
and love one another.
I’m from England and Germany,
whole wheat waffles and Grandpa’s famous milkshakes.
From Maria Linford, who made it across the plains for my religious freedom,
and her husband John who didn’t.
I am from strong love and complete truth,
and it gives me complete happiness.

One of Kelsey's great talents, I think, is her writing. She is becoming an amazing young woman. Thanks for being you Kelsey.

When You Are A Twin

Most of your pictures growing up have your twin in them. It is so hard not to think of them as a set - but they do tell me ALL THE TIME they have names, and they are separate people. I pulled out some pictures of them through the years - made me remember how darn cute they were.

Those first years were such a blur, but then they became great friends and still to this day they will entertain and play together.

When the twins were little, we had these two toy baskets.  They would go in and empty all the toys out...

They would sit in there and have fun for hours.

They loved to sit under the kitchen table and play - when you could not find them, you could look under the table.

Gotta love sharing a swing!

My favorite twin picture ever!

Their second birthday - I think Allie had just hit Caroline.

Third birthday.

I love little girls with piggy tails.

Halloween - I was accused of type casting here - angel and devil...

July Fourth in Dallas - I think they are about 3 (ish)

August 2006 - right before school started.

The zoo 2007.

Christmas, 2010.

Happy Birthday Caroline

My very youngest child, by two minutes, is 10. In some ways it seems like just yesterday I carried that little girl home from the hospital, now she is big.

Caroline is the baby - and even though she is a twin, she acts like the baby. She asks Allie to do things for her all the time - make a sandwich (cause she does not like to spread jelly) find things, carry things, etc. etc. Not that she can't do it, she just prefers to have someone do it for her.

I would say Caroline looks the most like me. She will be our tallest child. She likes to play outside, but does not LOVE the outdoors like some others. She is going to try her hand at basketball this summer - put that height to use.

Caroline has always lived in her own world. Sometimes she lets us into that world, but not always. She keeps us entertained, and puzzled, at dinner with some of the things she says. I am not sure the filter between brain and mouth always work with this one...

Caroline is VERY into clothes and "fashion" She has very strong ideas about what she likes - and has for years.

She is social, but takes a step back behind Allie if they are in the same place. She is tries very hard in school, and can focus and get her homework done in no time flat. When she is focused on something, everything else falls away.

I am so grateful for my sweet youngest child. I am proud of her and want to her always know I love her!

Happy Birthday Allie

I cannot believe my twins are turning 10 today! My babies are in double digits! Wow - time does fly.
Allie is our little Ryan - she is so much like him in so many ways. With one big exception - she is a talker and MUCH more social than Ryan ever was. Allie can put anyone at ease - she can instigate and carry on conversations with anyone....
Allie is a very caring girl. She is always looking out for someone who might need her. She can bring herself to tears at the drop of a hat.... She is also full of it most of the time.
She has just learned to ride her bike, I know at ten you would hope so, but her twin still does not ride - I blame Eric - teaching kids to ride a bike is a dad's job isn't' it? Anyway, she loves to be outdoors and can't get enough of her bike right now. Her favorite thing is to ride to school.
She is also quite enthralled with the TV. She can get side tracked SO EASILY when she walks by a TV. But then again, so can I.
I love to watch her grow and become this amazing young woman. I hope that my only green eyed child will always remember how special she is - and that I love her.
